Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Planning a season with my car..... Insurance question

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
So, I've got the opourtunity to spend most of the winter in the Alps and am thinking of taking my car with me. This will mean I can take as much stuff as I want without paying excess baggage and can have a bit more freedom to get around once I'm there. Problem is I've looked at my insurance and I think I'm only covered for 30 consecutive days in Europe. I have found a policy that will cover 90 days, but the trip thats being planned is 102...

What do other snowheads who are doing extended trips do? Any recommendations for insurers...?

PS If it helps the current policy is due for renewal 18 days into the trip. Does that mean I could stay with my exisiting insurer, then move to one of the 90 day people while I'm already out there?

TIA

@skiinghamster, there are some recent threads already on this. If you are happy with 3rd party, you are insured - the limit only applies to the fully comp bit. Also, LV will cover you for up to 6 months fairly reasonably.

EDIT: e.g. see this thread

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Call Andrew COpeland - they are brilliant and MUCH cheaper than any UK insurer I used before or since.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks guys - @Gämsbock, 's thread is very helpful.
Not sure I'm keen on just 3rd party, but will definitely look at LV and Andrew Copeland. A friend IRL has also reminded me that they are very good friends with a broker, so I'll look at that too.
