SMALLZOOKEEPER, I forgot to say, a few months ago i was threatend to be booted out of snowheads because of my opinions, and telling people they were talking rubbish! |
Oh dear, this is a rather disturbing thing to hear.
Who threatened to boot you out of snowHeads Fastcarver?

admin, Can't remember it was a fair while back. I think i was basically told to head advice from super snowheadness! After a heated debate it certainly came across as that is how it was meant.

Can't see much wromg with this thread and when I'm next in Chamonix, I'll go and see the SMK shop.
Sounds like it has some nice kit etc... it isn't likely to survive there if it doesn't
Just because you don't subscribe to someones opinions, doesn't mean you think there are talking b*****ks.
You might go with your personal experiences first...or have your own reasons
Thats the beauty of this forum, everyone has a opinion

Fastcarver, I'm sure I've never threatened to boot u out and if any of the Piste Patrol had, I expect I'd have heard about it: it doesn't really sound like us at all (I hope )
Is it possible that you were simply asked to back off an argument or present your point in that argument in a slightly less antagonistic manner? These are the kind of requests that we tend to occasionally make of people for the good of the forum in general. Usually, more than one party in the exchange will receive a similar request. I'm sorry if anything I or the piste patrol ever said gave u a sense that the Boot of Damocles was dangling over your butt. Really, you are barely even a cheeky pixie compared to some that the Piste Patrol have had to deal with and I don't recall anyone, ever being threatened with the boot.
(Perhaps a flood of quotes now to the contrary will prove that I am actually the one living in Pixieland....)
As far as whose advice u, or anyone else heeds, it is entirely up to the individual.
IMO, anyone who thinks they are the ultimate authority on anything around here is a little out of place, since the shared expertise of 3000+ people is always bound to dwarf that of any individual and failure to recognise this can only lead to dreadful insecurity
The true value of snowHeads is demonstrated by a thread of 10 or 20 posts, each one putting another piece into what becomes an 'Expert answer' to the question posed.
The charm of snowHeads is that those 10 or 20 posts will be interspersed with a few others (like about 40 ) which, though entirely off topic, are warm, friendly and, if we're lucky, amusing.
We have countless snowHeads with relatively small post counts whose specialist knowledge has proved invaluable on many occasions and I've even seen people register for the purpose of answering a question. But so often what these provide is simply a launch point for a discussion which provides the much more complete answer.
Consider: if someone arrives at snowHeads asking for advice toward preparing for their first ski-trip, the kind of expert they need is the person who went skiing for the first time last week and for whom the experiences, lessons and pitfalls are still fresh in the memory but we've all been there. That 'expert advice' is as important as any other.
I suppose what I'm trying to say here is 'Post count is probably not the best measure of authority so it's probably best ignored in that respect'.
With regard to SMALLZOOKEEPER telling everyone at snowHeads about his shop - I'm sure he tells everyone in his shop about snowHeads too, don't u SMALLZOOKEEPER? I expect u could probably do with a bundle of stickers to plaster Chamonix (or at least your customers) with as well eh?

SMALLZOOKEEPER, I know you can take apart and bend P18 brakes, I found a tutorial on TGR. I pressume the P16 is the same binding with a higher DIN rating...
I'm so tempted to ski them without the brakes. Damn it, all my other brakes freeze up anyway.

set plate on ski freehand or template.

comprex, SMALLZOOKEEPER, the drink is the only thing stopping me from skiing the damn things... got turned away from the Farm last night because *some* of our group were too drunk...
I have the drill markings for my naxos & markers, I don't mind free drilling the skis, it's the breaks that bother me... A ski tech gave me leashes yesterday so I'm getting closer. Also renewed my Air Glaciers insurance so I think I'm ready.

DB. I'm not certain that Boddingtons brewery has actually closed yet, but they definitely announced its closure.
There are strong rumblings from Youngs in London that they will sell their brewery site in Wandsworth too.
It's like people wiping out vineyards.
