Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just booked for next Feb - La Clusaz

Just booked for Feb Half Term next year for a week in La Clusaz. My wife me and the lad are fairly decent intermediates. Trip has been complicated as we have decided to take our nephew - first timer. I'm hopeful this resort will fit the bill for our group - any thoughts folks - who has been there?

I've been there once or twice Smile. Lovely, very French, slightly strung out slopes some of which aren't worth bothering with (the Etale sector for example, short runs, poor snow, and drag lifts - NOPE). Don't overlook Manigod and Merdassier even though they look a bit pony on the map, the runs are short, but the area is quite charming with a couple of good cafes. Beware of the black runs. They're not 'tough reds', they really are black. La Noire tried to kill me last time.

Make sure you take the trip over to Le Grand Bornand, on the combined ticket, it's every bit as good (actually I slightly prefer it). Pretty much all the reds are unintimidating and great fun (except Gypaete), and the blues are mostly a nice length and excellent.

I predict you'll have a good time.

Lovely place and not bastardised like many French mountains. The swimming pool complex is simply where you can swim outside in warm water amongst snow capped peaks. Grand Bornand is lovely and, you can also travel up the road in the direction and pick up a lift system that takes you over to Megeve which is beautiful.

Its a lovely resort, with nice skiing. If they still do the ice go carting in the village early evening check it out, its worth a look.

It's a nice place. We went three years in a row so I'm sure you'll have a good time. There's a nice variety of runs and areas to explore and plenty to keep you busy for at least a week.

The only downsides would be that the village is fairly low so snow quality can be an issue if the weather turns warm and the main run back to the village has a steepish patch just before going through a tunnel that can get a little icy at the end of the day. Don't let that put you off though, the positives far outweigh the negatives. The other good thing I have to mention is that we never had much of problem with lift queues or overly busy slopes at half term. A major advantage in my books.
