Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Still look at the avoriaz webcam almost everyday. Tough day, peak at the cam and all's well with the world.

yea, can't believe have lived without it for so long rolling eyes went last in april, v lucky with the weather. Improved more than I thought so am at tricky stage of deciding if need to buy boots or not yet as with the hired ones I could tell after couple days I wasn't getting the support I needed (the boots you understand, not emotionally) Very Happy

Not so tricky just do it. And buy from someone specialist who understands feet rather than the chain stores or especially the internet.

Yep, buying is only half the equation. You need to get the fitted properly by someone that knows what they are doing too or you may end up with boots that don't fit any better than hire ones.

If you need to justify the cost to yourself you're looking at say £300-£400 for a pair of boots+fitting. A week's boot hire's about £25 so you only need to go skiing 6-8 weeks to cover the cost, and will enjoy your skiing more. Now 8 years sounds like a long time (1 week/year) but if you go skiing twice a year it's only 4 years! There you go, justification to not only buy new boots but also go skiing twice a year! I managed to justify buying a pair of skis with this sort of 'logic' Very Happy

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Now if you live only 1.5hrs drive from a ski centre in Scotland, you can also justify the purchase of boots/skis not only on the cost saving & comfort against hire skis & boots, but also against the time skiing gained by not having to queue for rental equipment on a day trip.

Not that my wife and I needed any justification, but it helps cushion the blow when the credit card bill arrives a month later. Shocked

Think the maths might be a bit out, at £25 a week it will take 12-16 weeks to justify £300-400. Very Happy
