Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Salomon service

Anyone with any experience of salomon service in the UK? I have an x pro liner which has a nasty split in the inner fleece and foam - an obvious manufacturing defect but boots were bought on the hill in the Alps and I can't go back to the retailer. any sense of how helpful they may be?
Many thanks

valais2, I have been told by Salomon to just take stuff back to any dealer worldwide, doesn't have to be where you bought it.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's really helpful - do you mean retailer or country importer?
Many thanks

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I would contact Salomon UK directly so they can tell you where to take it or send it of for assessment.

Not sure any retail shop that sells Salomon would be very helpful to you if you had not bought the item from them. You have not given them any money, or custom yet you want them to sort the problem out at their cost?

Maybe a Salomon only store would?

you should be able to take it into ANY Salomon dealer and have them send it for inspection (we will happily do it, some wont), you WILL need to provide a copy of your receipt so that 1) you can show it is within the warranty period and 2) Salomon can put the claim against the relevant country..... although the warranty is world wide, each country takes responsibility for their own warranties in terms of budget so there is some internal paper trail they have to complete

CEM if the customer decides the item is not fit for purpose and wants a refund how would they go about that. Would it be you're store that would do that? Or would Salomon UK be doing that? Or would it be the original store in France after receiving the relevant information from you're store in the UK?

@yuppie, the apostrophe. The difference between an entity that knows its poo-poo or the one that knows it's poo-poo.

Also, fitness for purpose is at least UK legislation. Does it apply elsewhere?

@yuppie, no such legislation in Europe as @under a new name has pointed out, so no my store would not have to deal with that, the warranty is for repair or replacement of a product due to manufacturing or material fault....... besides can you define "not fit for purpose" with regards to a ski boot?

Thanks for this everyone - very helpful.

Unlike Solomon service centre who in a fit of extreme unhelpfulness said today that since the boots were bought in St Luc (tiny village in Switzerland) I cannot return them to salomon UK warranty but need to return them to st Luc with evidence of original purchase.

Sigh.
