Heading out there in 10 days and looking to pick up some stuff in Vancouver before heading up to Whistler
What are the prices like for things in the supermarkets in Whistler itself?
Anyone able to quote recent prices for something I can compare - e.g 4 pack of beer, 750g mince etc.
Thanks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I live in Whistler's Creekside, just across the Hwy from the most expensive groceries in BC: Creekside Market. ON the hill; I paid $5.50 for a plain bagel and had to hunt for someone to slice it for the toaster. The cheap lunch on the mountain is dead. Soups are $9, fake quiche is $15.00. Glacier lodge at the base of Jersey chair used to have custom omelettes cooked by cute Dutch girls... Now a burger and fries is $20. For a 'deal' rip down Dave Murray ( to the base of Creekside Gondola -voted the best place for a joint by HighTimes Magazine 2005 ) and walk across the bridge and hit up the expensive Creekside Market's deli...about 1/3 price of hill-food. It's just past the ubiquitous Starbucks... Cheaper groceries are found north of 'Alpine' in the Rainbow subdivision. Shop in Squamish on the way up. Or Vancouver's Costco will have great quality and quantity; but for a long trip the $50 'membership' is worth it.

Portabello under the Fairmont is amazing for big hearty food and portions are high so sharing is recommended with the new gondola at Blackcomb it’s as easy to ski down for lunch rather than fight with the hoards
Just over the road is handlebar for great apres and also the small liquor store which sells great wines at reasonable numbers

El furnys in Whistler village is $6 (about £3.50) per plate - basic pub food. Spaghetti factory is around $13-16 for starter, main, ice cream, and unlimited bread.
Get as much as possible in Vancouver, as it will be far cheaper.
