Poster: A snowHead

Hi!
My brother(22y) and I(24y) have begun planning a season in Les Arcs, at the moment we intend to stay from ~10/dec to ~20/mar. We are from Sweden and since Paradiski for some reason isn’t that popular amongst Swedes finding roommates have so far been hard. Most of the apartments I have found are for 4+ persons so if we get two or more people on board that would be great.
We want to ski both Les Arcs and La Plagne so our plan is to live in arc 1800 for better access to both Bellecote and Aiguille rouge, we still plan do most of the shopping in Bourg to save money. We don’t really intend to work, hopefully a budget around 4k€ will be enough for the season.
We are both rather decent skiers that now would like to focus all our time to ski off piste. Not really interested in partying but one or two drinks after a long day skiing is always nice. I believe we are rather ordinary guys and will get along nice with most people. We don’t really care about what kind of skier you are, if you only want to ski park or feel like blue are steep enough, that is up to you! However if you also would like to ski with us you MUST carry avalanche gear!
So if anyone is interested in sharing an apartment please let us know!
Also, if anyone has some tips regarding doing a season in the paradiski area we are more than happy for any info!

Hi @Bjersing, I have done a few seasons now in Les Arcs, but mine are 'part-time' (I still need to keep on top of work in London). So happy to offer whatever advice I can, but also maybe put a post on the Resorts board. It is a great place and I have never been bored.
I have bought a season bed each winter in chaletarc.co.uk which is very reasonably priced. You may want to weigh up if it's easier / cheaper for you to do that or rent an apartment. For me it has been way less hassle, and has the benefits of lots of others to ski with and socialise, loads of storage for my gear, a place to tune my skis. It has its down sides: think of it more as a bunkhouse and PM me if you want a fuller appraisal or do a search on the forum - there are a few threads where various people have given their opinions on the place. If you do decide to go with the apartment, I *may* be interested to come in with you but again swapping details in a PM is a better way to continue. If I did, I would cover my full share of the costs, but would only be there about half the time, max. A French apartment for 4 is usually nice and comfortable for 2, btw. Their designs are based on discarded plans for submarines I think...
One down-side for 1800 is that you need to pay to park the car. 1600, Vallandry, Peisey, Nancroix are free. Many who are on a budget also go for Bourg St Maurice, as there is a very efficient funicular railway straight up to 1600. I think €4K to cover a season may be ambitious but better if some full-time seasonnaires advise.

@Bjersing, Hi guys. Sent you a PM in reply to your message to me. Just saw this thread. As Bob says, Bourg is cheaper and I think you will struggle in Arc 1800 with your budget. Cheers Chris

A quick update, at the moment we are looking at a small apartment in Bourg, three bunk beds and a sofa in 17sqm, for now we are 3 persons but to lower the cost a fourth person would be great.
Cost would be around 1100£ for the entire season, if this sounds interesting pleas pm me asap!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Also, from Bourg, I think it's quite easy to explore l'espace killy if you're there for a season?

Hi @Bjersing, just a couple of days ago I booked my bed already in Nancroix! But I will PM you and let's hook up for a ski this winter.
17sqm will be pretty cosy for three, by the way ... Is the apartment in "Les Glieres" (if so it's dead handy for the funicular)?
As Don says, it is not too far to also try out Tignes & Val d'Isere. If you have a car, worst I have ever done is just over an hour, but those were blizzard conditions. As reported by (snowcrazy I think) in another thread, it sounds like the reciprocal offer will stay for full Paradiski season passes so you would get two days "free" in Espace Killy. After that it is over 50€ each time you spend a day skiing there, just for the skipass.
