Poster: A snowHead

Parent company Tui has announced that it will be phasing out the Thomson and First Choice travel brand names, see BBC news. The report says Tui will move to a single European wide brand name (unspecified).
Tui also own the Crystal brand which isn't mentioned in the report so this will presumably also be phased out, unless they choose to use it for the European wide brand name?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@Alastair Pink, Yes I wondered about that, seems to have been a bit of brand redesign for Crystal in the last year too but that probably means nothing? Would a German company pick an English word for a pan-European brand?
I've always wondered why Thomson and Crystal both sold winter holidays? Made no sense whatsoever?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@robboj, Slightly different branding and markets perhaps - a bit like Total, Esprit and Inghams.

@robboj, same holidays - same systems - covered people who "always book Thomson" and people who liked to choose Crystal.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I booked a Thomson summer week last year simply cos Crystal website didn't seem to want to give me same price. All Gubbins were subsequently Crystal however. I think the GB public are probably over the idea that mass TOs offer anything unique or special so branding probably becoming less important other than people knowing you are one of the big dogs they should search.

Not really like the Hotelplan brands, they each operate separate chalets with separately branded resort staff (although they do swap round). Somebody booking a ski holiday with Thompson or FC goes in to a. Crystal chalet with the staff wearing Crystal uniform.

This was a fair few years ago (6-7) but the childcare staff all wore First Choice kit, where as the reps etc... Were all in Crystal kit. Couldn't really work out why. I assumed it would just be First Choice reselling Crystal holidays until I saw that.

I used to use TO's but now don't see the point. certainly cost wise. I appreciate those with kids may like a certain level of security having TO but I'm struggling to see where they fit in these days
