Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

getting your DINs right...avoiding avoidable injury

karin, There was one version of the chart that used tibia head width instead of height. I would expect it to work a bit better for women.

HA - used the http://www.dinsetting.com and I got 'N/A' - apparently it does not think I should be skiing!!!!!

No offence and bravo for the effort but the DIN table above does not reflect the whole range of DIN settings on modern bindings so I would slightly doubtful about the accuracy. Also I think there are some adjustments I would make for tall, skinny, aggressive skiers with big feet that are not taken into account. Please remember that both tables and DIN binding settings are geared for peak of the bell curve. If you are an 'outlier', you need to think for yourself. Also one can get injured just as easily by the binding releasing 'early' as well as 'late'.

I usually ski at DIN 13 - don't get pre-release release, have had correct release on taking a tumble and have never had any binding related injuries.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Most of my bindings are 10-18 or 10-20. The charts are not much use....

Must say that I normally ski on 7-8 whereas that chart would have someone of my weight/height on 5-6...

Very conservative...

@hyperkub, I guess the charts are mostly aimed at working out the optimal compromise for your average holiday skier. If your bindings start at 10 you obviously don't fit that profile!
