Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What are these skis that I've bought?

While browsing a certain auction website a few weeks back (possibly with one or two beers on board) I had a punt on these skis and won them for £70 delivered. I was looking at a few at the time and thought what I was getting was something the All Mountain range of width.

So when these turned up I thought there'd been a c@ck up on the senders part but it was my mistake. Embarassed

I'll be heading to Austria in a few weeks with the Mrs where I was mostly expecting to ski on piste, I've no need for another pair of piste orientated skis. I currently have some Head Supershape Magnums and some 100mm skis for off piste. I was thinking I might just take these with me to try them out but I'm struggling to find any info/reviews on them? They're 70mm in the waist and 183 cm long. Are they RX12's? They're in good nick and serviced I'm 6'3" and 16.5 stone, they feel stiff to flex.

Wondering if they're worth trying over my Heads or just sticking with what I'm familiar with.

You'll have to try them sooner or later unless you are collecting skis, so may as well take them for your next holiday. Kastle make good skis, though I only tried BMX98, so can't tell how RX compares with a Magnums which I also own. I suspect at this length they will be more like a GS skis, whereas Magnums even at the longest length turn tighter. So basically you've avoided a quiver overlap even that you ended up with two pairs of front side skis.

They appear to be a 2010-11 model, and at £70 maybe a bargain, as the retail was around £900.

They are decribed as "For the advanced and expert skier wanting a precision carving ski with a race ski heart".

They are the RX from 2010. 18m radius in that length. A "shop-racer", basically a detuned GS race ski for mere mortals.

For 70 quid you got a nice bargain. Give them a go!

 Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the responses I 'll give em a go. It's been a while since I've had a piste skiing orientated holiday, more than 3 years I'd say so I'm generally happy on piste on my fatter skis but the compromise on performance over a more dedicated piste ski particularly at speed is obvious. I do enjoy getting the speed up on a nice quiet piste though so these sound like an appropriate tool :sH;

Any links to review as i'm still struggling to find much? if I put RX in I seem to get RX 12's.

At €70 they're a bargain!!! I've only ever heard good things about Kästle, but given the price tag I'm unlikely to try any anytime soon Laughing

Just stick a '-' in front of the '12', eg:

Bargain. I've only skied the new BMX 108 but I loved it. The new Kastles are very popular among serious (+ rich) skiers and Chris Davenport is an owner in the business so they get serious input.

if you want to move then on give me a shout. I tried some at the ski test some while ago and was really impressed but couldn't justify the RRP!
