Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello all. Been enjoying voyeuring you for months but now I have a question...

Anyone know the train situation from M|unich Airport? Is there are direct train or do you have to haul everything to the centre of Munich first?

Welcome to snowHeads, Bode Swiller. Neat name! Sorry, I haven't a clue about Munich as I always ski in France Embarassed . Someone will know though.

Bode Swiller, I've done this journey by train and I think you can improve on my connection. I think you can do it via Munchen Ostbahnhof, rather than the main station (Munchen Hauptbahnhof), which will save a little time. It would be less of a struggle through the station, too.

Maybe make enquiries via the DB - German national railways.

David Goldsmith, I've always gone to Hauptbahnhof... more enjoyable place to wait for a train. The train connection really works well I've found.

There is of course a helicopter transfer service from Munich Airport... met a guy in Kitz who'd done it... only £250 a head each way.

Bode Swiller, the train does go direct from the airport. If you go to the Austrian train site (seeing as most of your journey is in Austria!) at http://www.oebb.at/vip8/oebb/en/index.jsp and put in the airport as starting point and Kufstein as the destination it gives you all the options. Startlingly cheap it is too. We got something like a 70% discount for having a group of 5 or more or something daft like that.

Takes an hour and 40 minutes and you have to change twice, at Munich East and Rosenheim. Wasn't too bad though - can thoroughly recommend it!

Anything is better than trying to drive around Munich - from memory the motorways were clogged!

carled, thanks. I'll go investigate. I knew it was possible by changing trains. What I was hoping for was a direct train straight out of the airport to the snow. Whatever, 1hr 40 seems better than I had expected.

stevo_the_saddler, stuck for 8 hours a few years back (incredible snow storm). Luckily that was going from the airport to resort so no missed flight.
