Thinking about a last minute late season ski trip after the Easter holidays. Where would still be open (snow permitting) the week after the Easter holidays? Does anywhere have reduced lift prices and what is open? Do the resorts still offer full area skiing or is it on a limited scale?

We are going to Tignes the 12th of April. We go each year and always have snow.

Val Thorens is open until, usually, the end of the first week in May.
Certainly the snow is usually very good in April. As the lower resorts in the £vs usually shut a week or 2 earlier then the connections obviously shut when they shut. Other than that the full resort is open.
We usually go last week April and the snow gets a bit slushy in the afternoon at village level but is often the best of the season high up and in the morning.
The other great thing is that the resort is usually empty in April. The thoughts of Europeans have turned to the warm sunny beaches just down the road at that stage.

@emwmarine, agree that the resort is empty after the Easter holidays. We stop at le Boise. In le Melezes and greats great deal. We can always ski home too, although it an get slushy on the last bit as you drop down. Other good point is the milder weather means sun bathing once the skiing is finished.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The Paradiski area (La Plagne and Les Arcs) is still open for those dates and it has two glaciers and 70% of the domaine above 2000m so it's a good snowsure choice. It's usually a great time to ski with nice sunshine and quiet pistes too. . . . .

Snowheads is a mine of information and there's loads of people who've been there and done that. More or less every question gets answered in an informed and helpful way. Apart from this one. It always amazes me when it gets asked and nobody has anything to offer beyond VT or Tignes.
Surely some of Hausl's crew must be around to chip in the obvious winning option of Riksgransen.
Fair enough, Tignes and VT are less bad than the rest of the alps at the end of the season. But surely the obvious candidate is north of the PolarKreis?
no?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Debauchery on the slopes; someone called Boris skiing down Boismint in a mankini drinking an exotic cocktail, a strange man being led away in handcuffs ranting about helmets and BASI wearing a jacket with "**** you SCGB" on the back; hordes of Brits amazing the locals by skiing down les couloirs des saint peres with someone called Robin of laxly Rar leading the way.
You know, subtle signs that they are here.

I went to Narvik, Norway one April to see a friend and ski some great terrain.
It was sunny; it rained; it snowed.
I had a ball.
We took a day trip to ski Rikksgransen and buy cheap booze.
Unless you're thinking of going heliskiing, I wouldn't travel that far.
Overrated IMHO

@Ricklovesthepowder, I went to Cervinia/Zermatt last season around that time and conditions were great... compared to other European resorts, they've had a pretty good snow record this season as well

Post Easter skiing in Tignes was a bit of a disappointment compared to earlier years.
The Grand Motte cable-car was out of action again (opening date 26 June !!!!!!) and the snow, whilst having a reasonable base, became slushy about an hour or so earlier in the day.
BTW can someone point me to a thread dealing with this second failure of the Grand Motte cable-car. All I can find is the November 2014 thread.
