Poster: A snowHead
|
We're off to Tignes on saturday, and it appears snow is forecast...
So it may well be time to have some off piste lessons - only played around slope side before.
Any recommendations as to who to use?

Evolution 2, very good in Tignes. They were recommended to me and I can see why. I'd definately recommend them from experience now.

I was out in Tignes before Christmas and decided on a technique lesson. I'd been recommended to them by U, so decided to give them a go.
I knew they employed British instructors, but booked the lesson at the last minute - again the people in the shop/office were incredibly helpful. The instructor was French as it happens, but he really understood all the nuances that can make the difference between an OK lesson and a really good lesson. The emphasis seemed more about getting a good technique working, as opposed to just running through the "guide to skiing" method that some schools seem happy to abide by. Consequently, my skiing went up another level.
Not sure if that helps. If you are keen to get British instruction (and the absolute best that I've had has been from a British BASI 1 instructor), then I reckon booking well in advance has got to be the way.

Yeah, even though I'm only reallt a beginner, I would have to recommend Evolution II - thes guys realyy know what they're on about....get private lessons, maybe shared with a friend or two......
Be careful though, only go off=piste with serious professionals......
have fun,
adam

Just want to add to the recommendations of Evolution 2. I know they do off piste lessons, but I did one of their 'Technical Progression' courses in Tignes last week and was extremely impressed. The first day or so were very frustrating as our instructor basically unpicked our skiing completely and went right back to basics. We felt like we were beginners again! By the end of the four days though, our skiing had been transformed. I would recommend them to anybody at any level, but particularly to people who have been skiing at one level for a few years and want to take their skills up a notch.
They specialise in small classes and the instructors concentrate on the areas that they are strongest in. Excellent attitude to teaching.
Can I also add that one of us was smashed into by an ESF teacher while she was stationary - he was not looking where he was going. Will never be using them again!
