Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

2/3 people flying into Geneva, looking to ski 6-13 March (one person for first 3 nights only)

Hi,

I'm trying to organise a ski trip and thought it was worth asking on here.

We are three friends (two female, one male) in our late 20s looking to fly into Geneva and then ski 6-13 March. However, one of us is flying over from Boston, and would have to leave on the Monday (i.e. would only stay the first 3 nights). Basically, we're looking for room for 3 people to sleep, whether that be a double and a single, twin beds with a spare sofa for those first three nights, etc. We aren't too fussy!

I appreciate Friday to Friday is not the most common period, so I'm trying to look more widely than the usual (catered chalet) including self-catering, hotels, etc.

I'm looking around Chamonix, Val Thorens, Morillon etc because they are resorts I know, but if anybody has any suggestions on how to do it easily/economically (or rooms that need filling!) we'd be very grateful.

Thanks

Ian (and Fi and Becky)

Won't be too easy in France because the Friday is still French school holidays. But you should easily be able to rent a small studio from Saturday - just spend the Friday night in a hotel somewhere close (e.g. in Sallanches if you decide on Chamonix). Rent a car to facilitate that.

If time is limited and one person having to get back to Geneva early Chamonix would be close, but so would the Grand Massif or the Portes du Soleil. Probably wouldn't go as far as Val Thorens.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks Pam, I wasn't aware it was still the French school holidays - that explains why the Friday night is so booked up!

Does anybody have any thoughts on staying in a UCPA?

Thanks

@Folie Douchebag, even if it isn't school holidays a lot of accommodation in France is Sat/Sat.

UCPA gets a good write up here but in most centres there are just single sex dorms - some also have twin rooms. But they are excellent value.

@Folie Douchebag, Les Contamines is a great little resort - and it sounds as though you might have found an apartment! Easy reach from Geneva, too. snowHead

@brock, @pam w, Thank you very much for your offer and advice - much appreciated. However, this plan to go with friends has fallen through, so I'm now frantically searching for a spare bed in a chalet that I can fill anytime in the next few weeks! Thanks again for your help.
