Poster: A snowHead
|
Yesterday there was a review added to Tripadvisor by someone purportedly staying at the Motteret Chalethotel Tarentaise this week complaining that thousands of Euros had been stolen from various guest bedrooms.
Does anyone know anything about this? The review now appears to have been deleted from Tripadvisor.

Numerous rooms broken into today, thousands of euros stolen from variety of guests. Rooms entered by the key, which is extremely worrying. Equipment also being reported missing. Poor response by staff, numerous guests visiting the Gendarmerie in Meribel. On our return the reception still unstaffed. Ruined the week. |
User name of Zippy4x4 if you want to ask them more info.

Who would leave thousands of Euros in a chalet hotel staffed by less than minimum wage kids............those putting in an insurance claim!
(PS I'm not saying the thefts didn't happen but find that these things become exaggerated as the bandwagon starts).

@holidayloverxx, Looks quite big on the MW website - even so would you leave cash in your room - or maybe its just the Yorkshireman in me.

One of the Club Med (? LDA) hotels got done-over a few years back, IIRC. Got into the safes (somehow).

I stayed there a few years back, it's quite big but I would say that security was typical of TO Chalets. There is an entrance from the road side and you can enter via the bar direct from the slopes. I'd not leave money in the room but we all leave laptops, gameboys etc when we are on the slopes. I remember a few years back travelling home with someone who had lost 2 gameboys and a camera from their chalet room.

A word that fills me the most terrible dread... Which will get you first, the poisonous food or thieving staff?

We did a Crystal Chalet Hotel once and the breakfasts were fab - proper bacon and heart shaped eggs on Valentine's day lol
I have cash on hols. Doesn't everyone? A couple of hundred Euros wouldn't go far. I'd use the safe though, if there was one. not holiday makers to blame though, hotel needs to ensure security if they want to stay in business!!

@Shimmy Alcott, Got to say I agree. (bloody hell whats happening here)
If a hotel or chalet gets panned like that then it is responsible to it's guests, and must QUICKLY change operations, keys, keycodes, etc, for anyone to have faith.

@dan100, apart from the fact the staff, (and their mates) have skeleton keys to access your bedroom everyday to "clean it".
