Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to go for two days Switzerland

 Poster: A snowHead

Gonna be in Basle March 1st and can then have two days skiing after business sorted. We can fly back from Basle, Zurich or GVA so are wondering what resorts would SH's recommend within 3 hrs of Basle and a couple hrs back to one of the above airports. I have never skied Switzerland before but am considering Grindelwald or Adelboden if returning from Basle or maybe Davos if going back to Zurich.
Other thought is down to Chatel and PDS or Morillon GM then flying back from GVA.
I'm a pretty good skier but just looking for a couple of days cruising blues with my relative beginner friend. I'm guessing the snow is pretty good everywhere currently.
All thoughts welcome from those who know stuff snowHead

I don't know if I can join you, but I'm living in Switzerland and can give you a lift to some place if you want. At the moment everything is open and it's cold and has been snowing.

Engelberg is my closest major resort.

@jirac18, your ideas sound good.

Some say.... there are too many packed trains in the Jungfrau - and I agree - so I'd pick Adelboden from your list

Further east I'd go for Arosa-Lenzerheide over Davos if only going for a couple of days

I'm thinking to do seebodenalp next weekend. It's cheap it low but it's freezing here and I was walking there over the summer. So I'm gonna go there next weekend. I might not take my ski's and just walk the winter wonderweg... But I intend to go there.

Not quite Engelberg, but then... it's in the general direction.

https://www.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/Airports/Basel.html might help.

First name I recognise is Andermatt but I'd think you'd drive through Disentis and Sedrun which are both worth a stop.

Then Bernese Oberland. What crowded trains?

Thanks everyone for your responses, our plans have been redefined now as we are definitely returning from GVA so I think we will be heading down to either Chatel or Morillon from Basel Monday evening and have three days skiing before our evening flight back. Excited for a short trip before our main skiing at Easter.
Thanks again

Surely, if you're in Basle, it'll be a quicker drive to one of the Vaud/Valais resorts, rather than go around the western end of Lac Léman to get to Morillion? And while I like and have skied in Morillion, it is pretty low compared to, say, Les Diablerets, Champéry (Portes du Soleil), or slightly further, Verbier, La Tzoumaz or Crans?

And most of these are readily accessible by train. I like the return leg via public transport because all I have to do is get the 8am/9am bus in the village and everything connects with the trains that go right into the GVA terminal - much easier than the faffing-around with a car, finding a nearby garage, retunring it, shuttle bus etc. I'd admit, however, that for three or more people, a car is probably cheaper.

@msej449, Fair one it might well be but we wont be skiing until Tuesday morning, so after concluding business in Basel Monday late afternoon we can take our time and get to Morillon to hit first lifts in morning. We are then only an hour from GVA so can have pretty much a full day now on Thursday before our evening flight home. Also a friend has just come up trumps and we can use her apartment in Morillon for £75 each for three nights (150 in total) which is right by Morillon Village Gondola.

Not worried about the height there will be plenty of snow from 1100 upwards for us for three days.

Train not an option worth considering. We have a car rental with chains from Basel and drop off at GVA which is in essence free as paid for by business.

All in all as it has developed GM and Morillon is a no brainer really.
