Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Germany's first female Chancellor escapes EU row ... by going skiing

Maybe politicians should do more of this.

Germany's (recently elected) first female Chancellor - Angela Merkel - has slipped away from a argument about her country's future financial contribution to the EU budget ... by going to the Alps for some cross-country skiing.

Could skiing harmonise Europe?

This report from United Press International doesn't answer that question, but was the source of the above info!

David Goldsmith,

Its great what politicians will do for their legacy and international status which may be completely at odds with their own electorate's wishes...!!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Of course, Merkel is not the only world leader who's into skiing.

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, is a keen downhill skier ... and black belt judo expert ... as illustrated in this piece from yesterday's Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

I have great admiration for Putin. While I may not necessarily agree with his politics, I think there are alot worse people that a country's youngsters could be looking up to.

Another national leader currently very much in the headlines is Victor Yushchenko, president of Ukraine, currently battling with Russia over the price of gas.

But ... as should be the case ... as the going gets tough, the tough go skiing. In this New Year's Eve interview for ForUm, Yushenko says:
Quote:
“I would like to take my five children, my wife and seven pairs of skis and to go to Huta in the Carpathians, and to go skiing in that meter-deep snow of the mountains for four or five days,” he said, adding that his schedule was “extremely busy and so holidays are unlikely.”

I wonder if Victor managed to get any turns in, with this 'gas war' exploding around him?
