Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@Insiders, I'm afraid I agree with those who say you're idea is slightly ridiculous. It's massively disproproportionate to the risk and wholly impractical. It would be an expensive nightmare to administer and act as a major deterrent to people going skiing.

Personally, I'm a believer in that everyone should have a Mountain License.

the rule would be very simple

1. You MUST have a Ski/Board license to buy a lift pass.
2. In order to get a Ski/Board license you complete lessons and a safety course and pass a test at the end of it.
3. You can accumulate points on your license (similar to a driving license) if you are caught speeding, drunk in charge of Ski/Board equipment (breathalyser required), skiing/boarding without due care and attention etc etc
4. If you Injure someone on the mountain you are liable for the injured parties expenses if you are proved at fault.
5. You must provide proof of insurance at the time of buying your pass - or buy a pass with insurance included.
6. If you accumulate enough offenses your license is suspended, your ski pass removed and you must pass a new ski/board & safety test before allowed on to buy a pass again.
7. repeat offenders are banned for 1 year, 3 years or life according to either the severity of the offenses or the amount of time you re-offend

In a world with an ever increasing population one must consider that the slopes will become more crowded. consider it preventative measures.

Wow. Just, wow.

@Harry Flashman, Very Happy , wow is the only word. Imagine if a ski holiday became so rule orientated it would be sooooooo boring.

Isn't this just another example of a small group of people impacted within their lives massively looking to legislate (or suggesting legislation) and getting a platform because everyone agrees that it's terrible but in actual fact rarely happens.

Other examples, any Law named after an individual.... Accidents happen, Skiing isn't a 'safe' sport nor are the mountains safe even with no-one on them. You may love Skiing but it's risky by it's very nature, isolated, cold, etc. You could argue ban all alcohol even in the village because people get pissed and don't get home, dying of the cold.

Having said that, i do think (having not experienced this particular brand personally so only second hand) that Apres bars should be exactly that, i.e. at the bottom, not like Folle Duce (Val D) half way up a piste where you have to Ski back. That to me is just asking for trouble and to some extent irresponsible, taking the road example similar to having a nightclub at a motorway services.

Whilst I normally to do not condone my kids using bad language, if we see somebody being a d1ck, normally they will hoon past them laughing at them ( Humiliation is a great tactic), if however the person wa s being a massive d1ck and endangering other skiers / boarders, they will wait till we cath them at the lift, then work out what language they speak and then the conversation [loudly] will go something like this [child 1] " hey dad, that guy in the the red coat with the go pro, is that the one who was being a real d1ck?" [child 2] " Yea, the way he shot past those begiiners completely out of control, he should really get some lessons - not just skiing, but on not being a d1ck" [ child 3 ] " what a c0ck".

That normally works pretty well.
