My Volks were cheap, had the specs I wanted ie > 70mm underfoot, stiff and GS radius..

Back in the day K2 made a version of their SL called the E.I.S. - Extreme Ice Ski.

A large part of what makes a race ski hold on ice is its torsional stiffness, I'm not sure how any ski will deal with somebody weighing 130kg standing on it.

@rungsp, I may be wrong but I'm sure that Kooky's main piste skis are Elan SLXs and she is tiny. Doesn't hang about though

@rjs, they still would be unlikely to put the same force through the ski as an 80kg racer mid turn.

@kitenski, I'm sorry, now I can see it's a misunderstanding. I meant a year old, but still brand new. After all, all the other skis I'm looking at are brand new, so it'd only be fair to compare like for like. Thanks for your effort though

@kitenski, yes, both you and @rungsp are right. When I complained to the shop afterwards about the state of the tune, they admitted that they omitted to sharpen them prior to renting them to me
