Does anyone know if St Anton still has that board in the center of the village which indicates the establishments that have room vacancies. I seem to remember from the distant past that you could arrive without a booking and use the board to phone and get a room.

@skidm, Not seen it (but not been looking either) it's now improved via the Internet I think.....
Seriously, there is the Tourist Information board at Nasserein car park, and another by the fire station near the Arlberg Tunnel pay stations as you drive up to St Jakob (near the fire station) but I've never seen them used, nor know if it's live information......suggest you email or speak with tourist information, give them your criteria and they'll email you back options within 1/2 hour. Hope that helps.

I once arrived in a snowstorm and got a room same day through TWB in St. Anton. If they can't find you something in Stanton, they will book in a neighboring village such as St. Jacob. This can be a risky way to travel but TWB works hard to accommodate...

Board was there in April 2013. Bagged a good room through it, even at 11pm.

Used to be a few numbers on the toilet walls too, but I think these rooms were only available by the hour....

I should add that the room was in a cheap but nice two star place. Was most happy after a long flight from Washington and train ride from ZRH to have a nice place to crash. St. Anton took care of us nicely...
