Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

St Gervais/Megeve with toddler

My first post so hope this is the right place to ask.

We are going to St Gervais with a toddler. He won't want to be indoors all the time, so wanted to ask if anyone has done this and has good ideas about what to do?

If we wanted to go up to the mountains with him so that he could sledge, for example, what would be practical? Could you take a buggy on le bettex lift or does it require a swift exit?

I think I'd find it too nerve wracking carrying him on a chair lift and it might not even be allowed

Hi - can't comment on St. Gervais, but for Megeve: I think you're better off on a gondola with a toddler. So, two options: Chamois lift, then to Mt. d'Arbois base and to Mt. d'Arboise top are all gondolas so you'll be protected from the elements. "Ideal" on top of Mt. d'Arbois is a lovely place to chill, enjoy the food and scenery. Second option is more straightforward - you take the Jaillet gondola up from the other side of town, and there's a lovely cafe/restaurant with a fantastic view of Mont Blanc and the neighbours.

I can comment (for once). At Bettex below the telecabine there is a multi level toboggan slope and the lowest level protected for the very young If you go up when there are a lot of people, with a pram, go up the down stairs at the bottom and the lift personel will let you cross over the lift to avoid the people but have a valid lift pass! Make sure you have enough people to carry the buggy though. They are very helpful but this is not a game!

St Gervais- Bettex bubble would be very easy with a buggy although I'd avoid the rush around 9am and 4am.
As Saint said, plenty of playing in the snow options at Bettex
