Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for Ski buddies in Chamonix this week (Jan18/19 - Jan23/24)

Hi potential buddies, I just arrived to Chamonix today Sat Jan 17. I am looking for ski buddies.

I've been out of luck trying to find guided groups or clinics I could join for the coming days, it seems that all EFS has is private guides (which are too pricey for me only) or intermediate lessons. Others seems completely booked.

However, I would be interested in splitting guide cost if we are 2-3 people. For what I've understood so far, Vallee Blanche is mostly closed, and there is no rope at the Aiguille du Midi.

I'm an advanced skier in Canada and have some experience off-piste (mostly from British Columbia and St. Anton in Austria).

I am staying at Argentiere near the base of les Grands Montets cable car.

Lucky you staying in Argentiere. I joined the Ski Club of GB based on the leading service they run at Grand Montets. Due to a legal ruling they are not leading, but still provide an ambassador service. They meet Sun to Fri at the bottom of the Grand Montets cable car 9.15am. Anyone can join, there are many Nth American members!
