Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

DC Mega or Ride Machete ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm in the US later this month and thinking about buying a board out there. I've found a couple of deals, one for the DC Mega 156.5 (Aaron Biittner model) and one for the Ride Machete 158 (white model). Both tickle my fancy, are new and last years model. I'll be using it on-piste, off-piste, regular & switch and a little bit in the park falling over.

Has anyone had first hand experience of these boards and what's the verdict? Cheers.

I rode the Machete for two days this December in light pow and packed piste and loved it. V stable, trad camber, playful yet good at speed. I ride a K2 usually, so made in same factory and it felt just as tough and capable as my two...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I thought the Ride Machete was rockered not traditional camber?

The Machete is flat with rocker at the contact points. Ride call it 'low rise'. The DC Mega is camber.

I've had a Mega and its an aggresive freestyle board. Its stiff and has a micro camber which flattens when strapped in. If you aren't at a good level then it'll be wasted on you. Its made for big jumps, hard riding for a powerfiul snowboarder. I sold it as it wasn't what I was looking for but as an all mountain board it was good though not as good as a specific A/M snowboard.

Ooops, sorry, Machete rides so like a Trad Camber I did not even bother to check.
My K2 Spot Lite is flat with rocker and rides v differently.
Still great but diff feel, and they are both made in same factory!
