Poster: A snowHead

Just a bit of advice sought really- I bought some Sorels ( Joan of Arctic ithink) in November because of the great really cold weather reviews they get- so far. my feet have been freezing in mine- to the degree they are going numb with the cold. They claim to go down to around -25 and it has been -9/-10 at most. I've previously had Caterpillar Anna's for about 7/8 years which were fab until the waterproofing & the seams finally went- is there maybe a specific sock or something that I should be wearing?
Also concerned because I bought a pair for my 2-year old whose feet seems warm enough when I take them off, but clearly can't tell me!

Are they too tight? Mine are toasty with normal socks at that temp. Generally though I'd make sure your core is warm enough and put on some wooly socks.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@L_555, if your child's foot feels warm when you take them off, it will be, so I wouldn't worry. My kids would have cried if they were cold at 2 years old.
I always wear a pair of ski socks with mine, as they are slightly too big for me, and anything else tends to slide off. Never ever had cold feet though. Are they dry when you put them on, sweat might make the felt liner become damp which might make your feet go cold.

they are pleasantly roomy- have been wearing a mixture of socks & today with ski socks at about -1 still cold! Maybe my blood has just stopped flowing now I'm in my 40's..I've taken the liners out tonight just in case that is the issue, otherwise I'll be back online getting a new pair of CAT's!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hello from a very chilly Alberta (minus 25ish today). I have the Joan of Arc boot (as do a few friends out here) and it works well even in our extremely cold temps. I would have said they might be too snug, but sounds like you've checked that. I wear a thin sock for skiing but wear a more cushioned sock (like a Smart Wool or a medium cushioned, full length Icebreaker sock) with my Sorels. I get at least a size up to accommodate this.
I'm quite obsessed with dry boots. Even seemingly dry liners can hold lots of moisture. Great idea about taking them out overnight. We do that religiously with ski boots and snow boots.
Good luck!

@L_555, are you keeping your body warm as well? Try putting an extra layer on.

Mine are great with a reasonably thick pair of socks. Are your hands cold at the same time? If so maybe your core is not warm enough and the body is closing down the extremities.
Did you buy them from a reputable source - there may be rip offs around
