Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Drove ourselves from Milan (Bergamo) 2 weeks ago - clear roads till last hairpins as it started to snow and it got a bit interesting....

Took just over 3 hrs non-stop to Folgarida - Madonna a good 30 mins further I'd say.

Last time in the bus from Venice took quite a bit longer as they are limited on the motorways but google reckons not much mileage difference between Bergamo and Venice. Verona a good hour nearer. Tunnel probably cuts 30+ minutes off.

Enjoy

I have a provisional short stay booking for Campiglio first week in April. Flights booked to Verona. What's the best route from there ? Google suggest little difference in terms of time travelling from the South having exited the motorway at the north end of Lake Garda versus arriving from the North having stayed on the motorway as far as Trento. Where is this tunnel of which you speak ?!

Just waiting in the hotel lounge waiting for the transfer back after a great week in Madonna. Wall to wall sunshine from Monday to Friday, a bit busier than last year as half term has conincided with Carnival week. Saturday it snowed all day and generally was poor visibility, it has continued to snow over night and there's probably 2ft of snow in the town, looks great for those out this week. hotel St Rapheal has been great again and nice to meet some old acquaintes and make some new friends.

From Verona airport come out onto the dual carriageway for about a mile and a half then take the motorway, signposted Brennero.
Follow this all the way to the Trento Nord exit. The toll is around 9 Euros.
As you come off the motorway go round the round-about and take the last exit, signposted Val di Sole
After the next round about (next to the bridge) get in the left hand lane IMPORTANT!!
Go through the tunnel which is toll free
Follow the signs for Cles
Go through Cles at the (only) roundabout take the 2nd exit
Follow the road until you get to the next round about (in Dimaro) then take the 2nd exit into the town
Follow the road up the 8 bends.
Madonna is 11km after the 8th Bend (next the Hotel Vecchia America)
Have a great time

If you have a map app on your mobile upgrade your Italy Maps before you go as the new road from the motor way is not on the old maps.
If you have a GPS make sure you upgrade before you go again so you have the new road after the Trento Nord exit

Note the route from Lake Garda (south exit) is shorter but it takes longer to drive as the road is quite small and bendy. You are much better off taking the motorway to Trento. The trip should take around 90mins to 2 hours depending on traffic and if you stop for a coffee.

2nd Note if it's been snowing the police will stop you in Dimaro and will not let you go up the bends unless you have snow chains. These can be bought from any of the motorway services for around 40 euros.
