Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi im looking at booking somewhere snow likely for the end of march for 2 weeks and was wondering if this late would just mean getting soaked through at Whistler. If this is the likely case would there be anywhere else recommended for the easter school holidays as wife is a teacher and we cant travel outside those dates 28/3/15 to the 11/4/15 any advice welcome as we have been ringing round usual places and nothing has come up would be looking for somewhere to keep us entertained skiing wise and a reasonable amount of bars/eating venues. Thanks for any advice

We have been to Banff several times late March and even into Mid April and never had any issues.
In April the snow will soften up by afternoon but they still get some amazing conditions late in the season.
We have certainly been drenched with rain at the top of Whistler's two hills at the beginning of March.

Been to both Banff and Whistler in March, Banff would certainly be better from our experiences. As with @p.kini, we experienced rain at the top in Whistler which makes snow conditions far from ideal.

Banff skiing is well into mid April IIRC and stops due to National Park control rather than lack of snow. As you are going for a couple of weeks get a car in Banff and head to Kicking Horse for a couple of days or so - easy to do and stop in a B+B. Fernie and the other southern ski area wont have ideal conditions by then.

Have a great time and enjoy snowHead

End of march in Banff is a great time to go. it usually snows a fair bit in march. LL and Sunshine are both typically open for spring skiing for may. So march is still mid season!

Had some great snow at KH in march so that's worth a side trip

We have tried to compete with Inghams on price to go DIY but taking account of transfers and also lift pass deals etc we have never been able to beat the tour operator deal and convenience.
It may depend on numbers in your party as unfortunately there is always a hefty room supplement fro "under-occupancy" if you use a UK TO. However we find the deals to still be favourable against the DIY option.

We have done it a few times booking direct with skibig3 and booking our own flights and transfers. Their staff are very helpful. I've stayed at the Rimrock, Inns of Banff and Ptarmigan a few times. The Ptarmigan do some rooms for 4 and it is ideally located to walk into town whereas a lot need you to use the bus (which is free usually). If you go for the Ptarmigan ask for a split room. It has the bathroom in the middle of the room which pratically splits it into two seperate rooms. We haggled and got a B&B rate which made it cheaper.

On the mountain, there are places where you can heat up your own food/take a picnic and leave in a locker to save a bit of money (upstairs in the Sunshine Lodge) There are a couple of good supermarkets in Banff too for buying snacks etc
