Snow plough arrived in Montalbert vieux village at 08:20 road already covered by 3 inches of snow. Aime to La Plagne is currently winter tyres or chains only.

Same stuff going on here - I am at home and staying here, roads will be an unspeakable nightmare. Drivers - stock up on food, drink and sleeping bags, because you're going to spend a lot of the day sitting in traffic in the cold.

Just to make it clear, I dont have any sympathy for those travelling today as they will have a nightmare today and a ball for the rest of the week. Bet they've been all depressed about the state of the slopes and this is an almighty bonus ! A friend who is travelling today is taking the attitude that the longer it takes him and family to get to the resort, the better as it means more snow!!!!!!

Snowed in the west of Ireland for two hours yesterday, big heavy fluffy stuff, it melted though.

The prefecture is putting in place an emergency accommodation plan covering Moutiers and Bourg St Maurice. In the Maurienne village halls and school gymnasiums are already in use for holiday makers unable to get to the resorts. Should be a quiet day on the slopes tomorrow

Snowing in Livigno when we left at 9 this morning. We had an excellent Christmas skiing, though the steep/busy slopes were becoming a bit thin by Friday afternoon.

Sky News reporting major delays on French roads to the Alps. Up to 15,000 vehicles stuck/abandonned apparently. Sympathy with those caught up in it. The area around Moutiers can be a nightmare for traffic on transfer days even without a dump of snow. Stand-by for 'transfers-from-hell' stories

Was traveling home in it all yesterday roads where a nightmare was sat in traffic for hours looks like we got away lightly with 8 hous to chambery airport.
