Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski servicing course

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've got a couple of pairs of skis that need edging and waxing and some minor scratches removing. Locally, in Somerset I can have it done for £20 a pair. The chap that does it also runs 3 hour courses in which you service two pairs of your own skis.........for £60. Seems like a plan. Has anyone done one of his courses,he's based in Taunton? Also is 3 hours enough to become half proficient?
Cheers.

(He's probably a Snowhead and is reading this Smile )

Sounds like a great shout, does he do snowboards as well or just skis?

@Downhill Sailor, Crikey, that's rather negative Laughing

If someone locally can teach me to do a good job of servicing my and my family's skis for a reasonable price.......seems good to me.

@Mosha Marc, I see your point, but if someone just down the road is prepared to hold my hand and take me through it all, with less chance of wrecking my and my family's skis, got to be worth thinking about. they do need servicing and at the mo I don't have the kit.

A friend of mine builds huge log cabins for a living. He runs two courses every year, log cabin building. He uses his paid to work labour to do the bulk of the work on big commissions . Up to twelve people working their butts off for two weeks for him, and paying for the privilege to do so. Again, genius. Very Happy

Ultimately his trainees, his customers and he are all happy.

At £60 I would definitely do this course, I spend that on servicing my 3 boards every season, so to know how to do it would be a real win. The only thing putting me off is the location as it's a fair trek from where I live. Being a technical numpty, being shown and being able to ask questions would be a lot better for me personally than Youtube.

As the saying goes, give a man a fish and he can give his family a meal, teach a man to fish and he can feed his family forever. Or something like that.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

May be closer. Surprised he's not been mentioned yet. Many sH's have done his courses and swear by them.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

...and teach a man to trade Fish derivatives on the futures market and he can dine on high-end Sushi for the rest of time.

But yeah, I just invested in a 2nd hand servicing kit as we've got 2 boards and a set of skis which need some loving.

 You know it makes sense.

@Richard_Sideways, ummmmm sushi....unfortunately I'll never understand derivatives.....pie and a pint for me then! Where did you get your servicing kit from? Where did you learn to use it?

@ricfrench, Thanks for the steer, but Notts is still a fair trek, I'm in Bucks (stockbroker belt apparently, shame I ain't one of them....)
