Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to go tomorrow or Thursday for a quick fix?

I know the snow is poor, I know it's last minute, but I can get away for a few days and even skiing on poor snow will be better than nothing.

Any suggestions for a last minute dash to the Alps?

@Mt, Have a look on the weather outlook threads and gauge for yourself. Just to add to @Touchguru, list Val Thorens seems relatively decent at the moment too but I'd expect anywhere that has it OK is going to start to get much more traffic if they haven't already. At least you plan to go and get back before Xmas week. Will be dire at a lot of places if things don't improve quickly.

Nearly done the list of jobs i had to do first, but now i'm about to pull the trigger i'm seriously vexed. We usually have three weeks at this time of year and its generally been excellent, last year excluded. Val d, seems the obvious choice at the moment as i know it so well, but its a hell of a transfer for a few days and poor snow. If i don't go now its going to be march, at best late feb. I looked at obergurgl, but i can't see any midweek flights from the north.

anyone in val or tigne at the moment reckon its worth it?

that's the thing, val looks just acceptable and patchy snow is better than no snow. I've got plenty of old skis that need a run out Smile

@Mt, Skied in Tignes/Val D yesterday (and Sunday and Monday). Lots open but depends what you want really. Not much in the way of off piste. The upper slopes are open and you can get across from Tignes to Val D but only by downloading on Olympique and Solaise Express. Snow up high on the Val D side was in good nick. I enjoyed it! snowHead

Just returned from a blast around Marmottes, Grand Pre, Borsat, Tommuses area. The snow on piste is surprisingly very good except for a few bare patches where everyone stops in the same place. The off piste is good in areas but you have to choose your area well as lots of rocks have not been covered up.
I decided to download on the aero ski as Trolles is not officially open. The piste looks good and should open this weekend Very Happy

Skied on a 1 year old pair of GS skis, no damage Very Happy Very Happy
