Poster: A snowHead

Does anyone know the best way to get from Innsbruck airport to San Kassian (Santa Cassiano) in the Dolomites in January? Would consider a cheap taxi service!
Many thanks!

at those prices? I'd rent a car and drive. It's an easy drive over the Brenner pass, along to Brunico and up the road to San Cassiano. Tolls are not too bad (ca. €10 each way over the brenner, and about €3 each way on the Autostrada). takes abotu 2 hours.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Completely agree with Andy . Its an easy drive from Innsbruck and unlike some Italian airports in the winter you will get a decent hire car with
Winter tyres

Rent a car and drive.
In December we get a taxi from Innsbruck to Castelrotto for €180 each way which split between 4 of us on a 10 day holiday is cheaper than hiring a people carrier (which we need for the skis 'n boots).
But for 2 of us for 7 days I'd hire the cheapest car I could find and stuff the skis down the middle.

I'm another who found car rental the most cost-effective option. You've also then got the flexibility to get to Cortina or other places for a day out.

Is there not an option of getting a train?

train would be...
20min bus, train (or possibly 2 trains*) to get to fortezza, train to san lorenzo, then taxi or hotel minibus to get to San Cassiano. It's certainly possible, but not quite as convenient.
* 2 trains if you get normal S-Bahn to brenner border and change there, 1 if you're lucky and manage to get the Munich-Verona EuroCity.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

At Brunico or San Lorenzo you can get a public bus to La Villa and then change to another bus to San Cassiano. However the total time using public transport is about 4 hours including waiting for connecting services. I would definately do a hire car or a taxi though
