@madlondoner, It's OK - I had a day there from Zell a couple of years ago. Nice scenery on a good day and slightly less dull skiing than most glaciers.
Given current conditions in the Tirol you'll get some better snow but also some decent queues I should imagine.
Let us know what you think when you get back

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It has a great freeride area just below the glacier section, about 5 graded gully lines, really good for off piste beginners to play around on.

@Scarpa, Would any of those actually be in condition at the moment though?

Depends on how much you value your bases Not sure, some people have been off piste on other resorts but have reported a lot of rocks.

Did the day trip from Saalbach today. It was windy, icy, busy and brilliant. Lots to do (compared to Saalbach). We had a great day and thought it was well worth the trip. Saalbach today and tomorrow is just a bit mushy as the temps hit their peak. The Saalbach resort is doing a great job at getting stuff open but we are thinking of going and doing another day at Kaprun before the week is out.

Was there on Sunday (on the Kitzsteinhorn). Weather cloudy at first, sunny later, but with a freezing wind. Pretty busy but still with some runs with short queues (e.g. Schmiedinger T-bar, Sonnenkar chairlift). Worst queue (at weekend) was buying the ticket, best if you can organise that in advance. Snow mostly hard-packed with polished patches but probably some new snow coming this week. Runs open down to Langwied but Black Mamba pretty icy. Didn't try off-piste but some were giving it a go, though the rocks weren't far away. All in all, goodish skiing.
No snow on the lower slopes of the Maiskogel area.

Was good. Scenary great and run down the side of the glacier run the top is epic. Saying that the queues were really bad and some of the pistes packed. Just avoided the ski school on one run!
There's not much open is saalbach so any amount of sking was welcome.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Leogang sector was really good today, if you're wondering what to do tomorrow. Snowing all afternoon!

Locals call it the "shitsteinhorn", Leogang is meant to be the best in Saalfelden area over the past week. I have had 4 real certified Austrians suggest it. Admittedly 2 were over schnappsed!Kaprun was extremely busy last weekend to ski properly. I don't suppose conditions will come right till early next week in all the resorts, allowing the tourists to spread out. . . and then all the Germans & Locals will turn up. Conditions for me everywhere have been a mix of artificial/natural hard pack as per espri. Add an extra hour to buy your ticket on a weekend morning.

You know it makes sense.

We skied from Leogang on Monday in a restricted area (johnbarr has reported in another thread). You could only get as far as the Schönleiten lifts and then go back again. However, doing that three times still made for a good day's skiing. The snow was probably best on the Leogang side but conditions in the Glemmtal were reasonable, though mostly just artificial snow and virtually only on the pistes.
However, it is snowing here now.

I skied in leogang a couple of days; probably will again tommorow. I think the kitzsteinhorn was better. Longer runs and less slush.
