Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Feldberg/Black Forest offpiste options

I will be in the area between the 20th of December and New Year, and I'm thinking of going to Feldberg for a day or two (probably 22nd/23rd). It's a 3hr drive for me. I was wondering what are the possibilities in terms of offpiste? I would be interested either to snowboard with a guide or join a group of ski tourers/splitboarders, so any contacts appreciated.

I snowboarded in Feldberg 3 or 4 times 4-5 years ago (c.15 days in total), and while it's not the Alps, it's a decent mountain, specially when there is snow and for beginners/intermediates. The only issue is how busy it gets around Christmas and NY, and for advanced skiers/boarders, the waits at the lifts can be very frustrating. Hence the idea to do something different this time...
