Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

going to Meribel at xmas, was just wondering if conditions are not good in Meribel and you cant ski to Val Thorens is it possible to take a bus and how long would it take

I dont think there is a direct bus, its a 45 min drive on a good day so not the best way to spend a weeks holiday

I've not known the cote brune to be closed over xmas week (exept for high winds) so you should be ok, there is more change of having to get a gondola back to resort level than there is the links being closed

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No regular direct bus, although some tour operators might organise coach transport if conditions demanded it I suppose, but it's easily an hour and a half journey time by bus/coach from resort centre to resort centre.
Conditions in Val Thorens are really quite decent right now, with up to half a metre of new snow expected this week throughout the region.
If there's not enough slopes open/accessible in Meribel at Xmas then it's more likely that the resort and ski-area management will co-ordinate a upload/download route via the Plattieres gondola out of Mottaret rather than use road transport. As @james_c says, the Cote Brune chairlift for the link across the Col de la Chambre should be operating ok, meaning the link at altitude will be open and skiable.
I'd bet it'll be fine - enjoy!
