Poster: A snowHead

I`ve just had my 3 year old Sabre jacket repaired by Arcteryx in Switzerland. The inside hem had come away around the bottom drawcord, and frayed. upon inspection, the hem was fraying on the other side, and inside the cuffs. No receipt of purchase was required, and the jacket was returned with a factory finish, all hems replaced, washed, and new DWR, as a good will repair, not under warranty. Presumably this was because it was deemed that the damage was done by physical wear and tear, although my older Arcteryx jacket has not done the same.
Some on here have previously slated high end clothing as over priced, but I am very impressed. Not only do all their products fit well and perform, but their service is second to none. I use this shell year round.
Contrast this experience with Mountain Equipment, whose expensive Vega jacket`s pocket lining frayed and split after wearing it for two weeks; they refused to carry out any warranty inspection without a receipt, despite me explaining that it had been a gift; they obviously have no faith in their product, or customers, so I won`t buy again.
The best Arcteryx product I have is an Atom sv jacket, by the way; light, very warm, windproof and great fit.

Buy only in summer, or in the seconds store in Vancouver if you are there; I`ve never paid more than 65% of RRP.

I wonder what they'd do to my 12 year old, much abused but still functional Gamma AR?

I have one of their t shirts - bit faded in the wash.... But to be serious, the t shirt is really good quality and so I would if I had the cash buy some of their other stuff as it looks like good quality

Maybe I'll send it over come June.
My Atom is also a very favourite bit of kit.

Ditto. In spades. The zipper on my hardshell broke. Arc'teryx decided it was not worth shipping it back to them to fix. They just sent me a new one.
Have since bought a lot more Arc gear, so win-win.

My sabre has done the same, with out the fraying, but the weld on the hem has come unstuck. How long did the repair take?

It took no more than 2 weeks, they acknowledged receipt of it, and Arcteryx service answered all questions from Vancouver. I`ll post a pic of the damage and the repair.

That's a very good looking job. I returned a pyua jacket after wearing it once or twice and draw cord around the hood let go. It came back fixed, but a really bumpy texture where it had been reglued/welded. I won't be buying any more of their kit. Customer service pays off in the end I guess.
