I've just had a email in from a tour operator:
"With a bumper start to the early ski season across the Alps, at XXXXXXXX we’re looking forward to a winter season to remember. With plenty of snow already; along with some beautiful bluebird days and an almost tangible buzz in the air, it's the ideal time to get a group of friends together and head out to the slopes.
Up to two metres of the white fluffy stuff has already fallen in resorts across Europe since the start of the month"
Anybody like to tell me where has had 2m of snow? Most if not all webcams I look at are green!

" up to" is a very useful phrase don't you think? If you twist it to mean "no more than"

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It came, it fell, it melted.

Perhaps their definition of 'Europe' is a bit wider than ours - so they can include Buffalo

South west. Pretty much everywhere in that region above 2000m or so. It was a pretty big deal on all the snow forecasting/reporting sites a week or so ago as there were several MASSIVE storms!

shock, horror, tour operator exaggerates snow conditions....
Its not the first time, best just to take it with a pinch of salt.
A few resorts have had over a metre, but like @davidof, says, a lot of it has melted.

And 'up to 2 meters' actually means 'less than 2 meters'. Commonly found in marketing phrases everywhere.

Yes but add in phrases like "Bumper start" and "with plenty of snow already" that is realy pushing marketing spin on what is currently very poor conditions!

I was in the Canaries last week and there was snow on the top of the mountain in La Palma (at 2400m) and also lots of snow visible in the distant horizon on the mountain atop Tenerife. No ski lifts though

Here's the webcams from Isola 2000 - they are going to receive another 40-90 cm's - snowline on 2200 is relatively high with clouds rolling in from Tunisia.
