When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

"Son of ski instructor" double-bluff for next Bond movie?

The Mail on Sunday carried a story yesterday about the upcoming launch announcement for the 24th Bond movie ... possibly involving a cover story about "an unknown character called Franz Oberhauser, son of the late Hans Oberhauser, a ski instructor who acted as a father figure to Bond".

This all involves the expected return of Blofeld ...

Hans Oberhauser was murdered by the father of Octopussy (the father was )a British officer at the end of WW2 called Major Dexter Smythe, who found documents leading to a cache of Nazi gold, he hires Oberhauser to guide him up a mountain to the cache, then shoots him in the back. Its in the original short story entitled octopussy, the Movie Octopussy was based slightly on this story and another (property of a lady) that were in the same collection of short stories, Living daylights is in the same book, the last Bond book published in 1966. In it Bond describes Oberhauser as a father figure who taught him to ski, prior to WW2
