Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Suitable glue for helmet liner

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Can anyone advise on the correct type of glue to re glue my lining back into the inside of my helmet onto the protective "polystyrene" foam.

I have removed the thin lining to give it a good soak.

I know some glue will simply melt the "polystyrene" foam.

Thanks

I'd use small squares of stick-on velcro - the liner will probably grab to the hook side of the velcro well enough without the loop, and won't react with the EPA foam.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

What about Velcro then you can remove it again when you need to wash it? Stick the "prickly" side in the helmet and it should grab the cloth of the lining ok.

why not put an elasticated chin strap on the liner, that way you can just take the lid off when you arrive at that mountain restaurant/bar, no hard shell but nice warm head Happy

@897sma, I just pinched the idea from my current lid.

@roche1800, Therein lies the game - glues which aren't oil-based tend to pack up and quit when exposed to hot wet environments. Glues which perform well in those environments tend to be oil-based and will turn your EPA foam into soup. Best to go with a compromise solution which'll grip enough but not eat the foam - assume you want to be able to remove the liner for a freshen up, then use sticky velcro pads.

@ansta1, but if he did that, @roche1800, would look like hes wearing a rugby skull cap and a total fool Toofy Grin - still it would still provide a little protection when falling off bar stool Happy
