Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello everyone,

I am an intermediate skier, currently own a pair of 2011 K2 Silencers 179cm twin tips skis. Currently weigh 72kg and am 5ft 10in (178cm) and I'm looking at getting some new skis and not sure of which ones to get really. I can ski, but don't really know much about skis! I ski pretty much everything, piste, off piste and a bit of park. With the skis I have no i feel they are a bit too long for me. On piste they perform great but in powder, i struggle making agile turns in small spaces and also spinning in the snow park feels like hard work and that they are too long.

I say I am an all round skier, but putting the 3 categories into what i do most to least probably goes on piste, off piste then a bit of time in the snow park and popping off random kickers.

If anyone can help me on what length to get, type, things to look out for and maybe some examples, that would be awesome! Smile

Thanks!

It's not the length, I think, but rather the rocker (or lack thereof) and shape of the front and back that make a ski feel hooky in deeper snow. If you can find skis with (slightly) tapered ends, that would definately help. Some tip and tail rocker also help. Lengthwise, I wouldn't go under body hight. Especially if you get rockered skis, you need to compensate for the lost effective edge lenth.

Examples would be Armada Arv TI (178), Nordica Nrgy 90 (177) or Nrgy 100 (177), Atomic Vantage Theory (177)...
