Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I've always found the Swiss ski maps at least as useful as any guidebook

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

absolutely right arno, a map is all you need, but the interest of not buying all the maps for switzerland a book is a nice place to start, the two go hand in hand very nicely,

@PROJECT_MANAGER, Some resort guides publish their own for specific areas, so for Andermatt and Engelberg there are local guides written which are excellent

For Ski touring, the Swiss Alpine club produces a book (in German - perhaps French also?) for each region (eg. graubunden Sud) which ties to their ski tour map 1:50k. Regrettably they are not produced in english.
