Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

90mm or 100mm brakes for 92mm waist skis?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am looking at buying a pair of salomon sth 10 or 12's and having them mounted on my scott rook 172s which have a waist of 92mm. Would it be better to go for a 90mm brake and have them bent out or a 100mm brake?

Thanks

Euan

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Defo, if they are tight, even if they work, it can only take a small knock to bend a brake and then they can lock up.

@EuanFraser, if there is not much difference go for the 12's given you said you were an aggressive skier, when you progress, and if your foot is small you might need the extra two notches. Are you getting them fitted professionally?

@jbob, yeah Ive thought about that... The only issue is will the minimum din on the 12's be too much for me?... I will most likely be getting them fitted by my local shop

The shop will be able to best advise on the correct DIN for you or you can do a rough check on a manufacturers chart. It's ok to have the binding set on any din in its range. But you are right to be concerned at 50kg depending on your boot size and skier type you may well be below a 4 and are very unlikely to need over a 10 for a while.

Also there is the issue that the bindings im looking at are an auction and will be ending soon... My nearest shop is also a fair drive away. I think the sth 10's would be a better option to go for. I'm still growing;so by the time that I would benefit from a 12 din binding I would have probably grown out of the skis Smile thank you @jbob, do you agree?

@EuanFraser, yes.
If you are getting the second hand you need to be sure that the bindings are OK, the shop might be able check them.
