Some friends of mine are interested in joining me and my girlfriend for NY week in Zell.
Only they have left it late to decide - does anyone know of any available accom - preferably S/C that is reasonably priced.
Have looked at the tourist info website and had no luck.
Any help would be great.

AthersT, that's why they might have to go 28th to 4th, sunday to sunday is not as popular as sat to sat - you want Zell, New Year and cheap - yuo'll have to compromise something. it is available from 28th

@AthersT, I'd advise your friends to hang on a bit.
Schittdorf is a bit of a dump - nothing like Zell town centre - although the gondola means there will be no problem meeting on the mountain.
I've done the tourist office booking thing in many Austrian resorts, and for some reason many owners don't seem to advertise until around a month before - they do not seem to get in gear in October/November. Emailing the tourist office or doing an accommodation request may flush out more options than a web search. best option is to get a full accommodation list and fire off emails to each one - which taps into a whole class of Gasthofs and Pensions who don't bother with the central searches.

This is a timely intervention - my friends were about to pull the trigger on some accomodation found through a Zimmeranrfrage (contact form) at the tourist board - this is the accom www.ferienwohnung-zellamsee.at/
Around 600 Euro for the week in a S/C apartment - I'm sure the location is misleading and believe they are close to ZamS airport and not that close to Zell town itself.
You would suggest waiting for 3-4 weeks then sending a request?

You know it makes sense.

Zell am See airport is just a landing strip for light aircraft and is at Shutterdorf not Zell

I understand this, the problem is that alot of the accomodation owners are not wholly truthful about the location and state they are in Zell am See when they are not - for obvious reasons. I will probably get them to hold fire on this, not sure they will want to be getting taxi's every night if they want to dine/drink with us.

@AthersT, get the location in Google maps. Some of us can advise if you aren't sure where somewhere is

I can see that - maybe access issues?
Anyone with Zell knowledge can confirm this?
I googled the name and it says its in Kaprun thats all.

@AthersT, yes it looks like a short drive to the skiing as it is only half way up the valley. You'd want to be at the top of the schmittental where all the hotels and lifts are or in the main part of Zell.
