Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Xmas 2014 - Your opinions please

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
This will be the first Xmas none of our children will be around Sad and I am not sure how it will work out. We are thinking of going skiing anyway but where would two 50 somethings and an elderly Aunt be best to go? I am so used to looking for lots of good skiing for our competent grown up boys and maybe we do not need that?

I am thinking maybe catered chalet, (need 3 rooms) as self catered apartment as we have done after we outgrew the caravan might prove a bit lonesome? I thought Austria might be more Christmassy?

An added issue is that ideally we would have the accommodation from the Monday!

Pipe dreams maybe? rolling eyes Very Happy Especially as it needs to be reasonably priced!

I would value your opinions

CaravanSkier, yes, a catered chalet would be more sociable - but there aren't that many to choose from in Austria. I expect flangesax's place is already booked for Christmas. 3 rooms will be expensive, though! A gemuetlich small hotel would be nice (can't do umlauts) - you should be able to get good recommendations from the Austrian-based Snowheads.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thank you Pam, I guess a small hotel may work. That might give more date flexibility too. It does not have to be Austria but its a long time since we skied anywhere other than France and thought this might be the time for a change?

pam w, ta for the recommendation wink

I wish I could say that we were booked... Xmas hardly ever sells for us... but that normally means I have a few spare rooms for mates or can get out most that week.
I think in the 9 years we have sold the week as a catered chalet for one group maybe twice and then filled it up maybe one or two more times on a catered or BnB basis.

CaravanSkier, you probably won't need as many kilometres of piste without the 'little' ones. And will probably enjoy stopping more regularly for Gluhwein as the rounds will be so much cheaper!!
