Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looks like a heavily filtered or processed picture.
Looks a bit like Belle Plagne.
Where did you see it.

Somewhere in the 3 Valleys...apparently...

My guess would be filtered/processed, too.

Agree with Layne: looks bit like Belle Plagne.
But don't think it is.
Looks more like christmas card, an image from imagination rather than reality.
Could be wrong. Nice if it was real.

Interesting, anyone recognise that back scene or the buildings from the 3V?

This is the backdrop from the Avoriaz webcam

Cacciatore, interesting - it's all over google images if you search on those terms, I'm intrigued as to how you found it though. And not one of them gives any indication as to the copyright owner/photographer.

Picture never lies? Perhaps they said three valleys because its the best known?

I mean the archetecture matches too. I suspect the picture was taken a bit lower down closer to the cliff on a slightly different angle.

""Alpine Glow Sunset, Avoriaz, The French Alps" doesn't have quite the same artistic ring to it Laughing. Good spot though, kioksor.

jonm, right click and "Google Image Search" - brought up loads of hits to the sites that have that image. Couldn't spot the copyright owner/photographer, though.

Avoriaz, looking South from the La Falaise area. Probably 2nd or 3rd floor in the Douchka apartment block

It's interesting - to me pictures like that just look horrible - over processed, unnatural. Like old high-saturation post cards. But they're very popular, I guess people are looking for different things.

As already identified by feef, view from the Douchka apartment block in Avoriaz. The Selectis Avoriaz office next to the Patisserie in the bottom left is a bit of a give away, even if you didn't recognise Les Hauts Forts in the background.

All very we'll but they looked like welcoming bars and bakeries to me, not thieving pikey estate agents.

From left to right, it's (I think) Selectis Immobiliet, Tavernier patisserie and boulangerie, a ski shop and the lit panel on the right is the entry to an apartment block.

IMHO, the Tavernier is the best baker in Avoriaz. The Fourni de Cannelle does more lunchy things, including vin chaud and crepe in the evening, but for a croissant or baguette, I'd go to Tavernier first.
