Poster: A snowHead

Possible Christmas trip so assuming sufficient coverage I'm interested in off-piste runs, routes (no more than a couple of hours skinning) & guide recommendations.

Plus any heli skiing recommendations for me please, monte rosa is high but is the descent a bit boring?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Agreed - Did the Monte Rosa to Zermatt loop via heli in March - a great trip but fairly tame descent tbh.

There are loads of superb descents from Monte Rosa to Alagna and Gressoney ..... but getting back to Cervinia would not be so easy !
We stayed in Stafal, Gressoney and used Monte Rosa Guides .... excellent.

Was there in March after many years since my last visit, the best off piste skiing is on the Zermatt side by far and at that on the far faces (relative to Cervinia). From memory it used to take us 1.5 hrs of lifts&,skiing to get there, so you'll be there by 10.30 say & you'll need to leave by 3.30 but it is lovely terrain.
Heli skiing is excellent & very well priced there though. Enjoy!!

spyderjon, talk to Dan he was there in summer and will have done some research. He said to me it was low on his list of priorities and wasn't in a rush to go back. I've also skied both Cervinia and Zermatt in the past and wasn't particularly impressed, and have never wanted to return.

Really you are on the wrong side of the mountain; there is much more on the Zermatt side - some of it arriving further down the Zermatt valley (you get a train back).
