Good morning all,
Does anyone have any current car hire discount codes (esp companies operating out of Geneva airport)?

'Fraid not - but cashback is available with various car hire companies via bookings made on the Quidco website.
I've just booked a car from Munich in November - 7% cashback with Auto Europe AND the price included winter tyres.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I always find Auto Europe the cheapest and love the fact that you can cancel up to 48hrs before for no fee - great if you find it cheaper elsewhere or indeed if Auto Europe has a sale

Getting ready to get shot down in flames from the regular SH mafia
But have you considered a hire car from the french side of Geneva airport ??
For the dates we are looking at in january a weeks hire for the smallest car from the swiss side is around £200 for the week
The same car on the french side is £107
It is more hassle getting to and from the airport pickup point if you want to avoid the swiss motorway toll charge but is not hard to do. Just takes a bit of extra planning and time on your journey

qwertyuiop7,
Thanks Phil - yes, we do sometimes hire from the French side especially in the summer. The stumbling block in the winter is always the old chestnut of the winter tyres/snow chain situation and how much that adds on to any headline price. Personally, I wouldn't want to hire in the winter without winter tyres so would have to factor that in whatever side I hire from. I will have a look at the costings from the French side.

ringingmaster, Yes, they will wait for you as long as you put your flight number on the booking or at least they have done for us in the past.
If you don't put your flight number down they will go home at the normal closing time assuming you are a no show.
loatie, Have a look at a comparison site for car hire, we use www.carrentals.co.uk , they include holiday autos and auto europe in their search.

Posting a bit late, but car hire from GVA French side may not include snow tyres or chains, or the Swiss motorway vignette, useful for leaving Geneva for France, and many suppliers include these on the default Swiss side, such as Avis and Thrifty via the Auto Europe site, with recent prices from £160 GBP for a week from Thrifty, Avis more, though. Add 7+% cashback and job's a goodun!
Is is possible to just use Swiss A roads from the French side into France, and have done it - once - but for ease of access, and covering the alpine driving legal requirements such as winter tyres, chains, and the vignette I always book on the Swiss side, even though it's a pain getting the shuttle bus to and from the depot, unless that's changed since I last hired there in March 2013.

569608 for hertz gets you 15% off.
You can also get 10% cash back with quidco on hertz.
No need to get the bus to the depot, it's only 2-5 mins walk depending on how much baggage.
