We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski rental Hinterglem

Hi,
We will be traveling to Austria on the 10th of jan stopping at the chalet Pinzgauerhof
In Himterglem. We are looking to rent skis and boots from the resort however we need
Some advice as where to rent some skis and boots from. All are good intermediate skiers
Looking for good quality equipment. Any advice would be appreciated.
Any shops to keep clear of?

mongofin, Welcome to Snowheads.

As you are staying at the Pinzgauerhof in Hinterglemm, you are presumably travelling with Nielsen, or is it Inghams? Anyhow, they will have a deal with one of the local shops that they may try to sell you as part of the package.

Pinzgauerhof is directly opposite the Reiterkogel lift in the centre of Hinterglemm. There is a Snow & Fun rental shop (and ski school office) located underneath the lift station, so basically right outside your front door.

Within 5 minutes walk of the hotel you have several other shops: Intersport, Gumpold, Rabbit Sports and Hervis are all on the main street. From last season's mega Saalbach-Hinterglemm thread [ http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=104841&highlight= ] it seems that Hervis were cheapest. All of these shops have websites, so you can check out prices online if you don't want to spend Saturday walking around.

All the shops have excellent gear - there is fierce competition in Saalbach - Hinterglemm in general, so that keeps prices reasonable and keeps the quality up.

If you arrive early enough on Saturday, you can use your weekly pass (i.e. the one starting on Sunday) to ski from 3 pm on Saturday afternoon. If you want to do this, before you buy your pass from the rep on the coach, make sure that they will get it to you before 3pm and you do not have to wait until the welcome meeting in the evening.

The best après ski bar in Hinterglemm is the Goasstall. It is handily located about 200m up the piste just above your hotel.

There is night-skiing every night except Sundays on the Unterschwartzach (or U-bahn), which is a 5 minute walk from your hotel on the other side of the main street. Decent après ski at the big bar there as well.
