News article on the BBC on how the Austrian Alps are particularly sensitive to climate change, and has seen an accerlation in temperature rises since 1980. Thought I'd post in case anyone fancied a read.

Only North Austria. South(East) got upto 500% of normal snowfall...

The Climate change means more wet weather=more snowfall, even if it gets a little warmer. Your remember the birthday bash? Did not make Lagazuoi the week after either.

Yes, and I also remember that it was very warm. Huge streams of melting snow and puddles. A small amount of digging snow had me sweating buckets.

I used to book guests on a professionally guided day hike in Hohe Tauern, guide said new mine entrances from 1600's Austrian gold rush were opening up as the glacial ice retreated and argued that the ice then was further back. Ich weiss nicht.
