Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I was just doing some playing looking at the possibility of taking our brood of 6 to Austria for New Year. There's an interesting hotel in Obergurgl with Crystal which had a half-board option. When I investigated further, the difference between B&B and Half-board is £784 per person for the week Shocked

By my reckoning those are bl**dy expensive dinners (esp as one is only 11); that's £672 for the 6 of us to eat every evening.

Have other snowHead come across this sort of discrepancy before? Is it normal and I'm just out of touch?

You've probably got a misprice on the B&B in which case snap it up or only this benefits from some current discounting.

you do get to use the pool if you're half-board though! Wonder how they prevent the cheapo B&B's from getting the pool dirty!

Which hotel was it? Obergurgl is probably pretty much sold out for new year week.

If you did find accom easy jet are doing (just checked from 26/12 to 2/1) = €262 from london return
Transfer on the Otztal shuttle innsbruck to obergurgl = €90
€352 euros = around £280pp

So if you found an apartment or a b&b it could be worth doing it that way? 280 plus b&b / apartment. Often worth emailing the tourist offices seeing if they have anything as they are usually pretty good.

That hotel stands pretty much alone (not sure what you are after), if you are looking at going out on the night time its probably a short taxi ride away however their is a free ski bus during the daytime - not so regular into the night.

Not sure about the food as i haven't stayed there but it does sound quite a big difference for food.
