Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne - Earth shifting at top of Grand Rochette

Just spotted a load of earth being dumped at the top of the Grand Rochette in La Plagne this morning.... anyone know what's going on up there? Seems a strange spot to reprofile?

Hmm, nothing on the Presse Office site http://presse-laplagne.com/accueil_new.php?lang=en&saison=0b or PersoPlagne http://www.perso-laplagne.fr or its forum, beside the soil and vehicles there are also two sets of lift cable running wheels on the ground. All a bit odd.

Just a thought, the soil may be for the Grand Rochette black piste which was breaking up quite badly with water 'courses' through it at times last season. If you swing the camera round and zoom in you can see the top part through the lift pylon and it looks very stony.

Could well be I guess. Looking through the history on the webcam is appears to have been arriving in dumper trucks, dropped off, then re-loaded in to dumper trucks and taken elsewhere....very strange!!
