Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Nah, they're weirder than the Biebers... you can get D2s with a different sidecut radius on each side of the ski (though I don't know if they have different rocker profiles too, like the strange Elan things). And even with that craziness, they're still all short radius skis for the ever popular 50% slalom, 50% powder market. What's the appeal?

Serriadh, You talking about the amphibio things? Just saw they have that on powder skis now... very much not convinced by that!!

not sure how deep that sarcasm goes... but yes apparently there is a popular 50% slalom 50% powder market... it makes me sad though

when what is required, dulcamara, are the skills to joyfully ski a 100% slalom ski in powder.

dulcamara, The sentence reads fine to me.

My current powder skis are a pair of Fischer WC SL, I confess I am thinking of getting some Soul 7s though.

I guess something like these Du Praz skis or the BBRs could be good if you just want one pair of skis but still want to mostly carve turns when you are on piste.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

The Icelantic Shaman is the grandaddy of the powder slalom skis and actually works very well IME in practice as an all mountain ski without rocker. Only place you might exercise care is in dropping into tight spots where you'd want to be wary of hookiness. It's definitely a play ski rather than a macho powder 11s charger though. I even had a guy on DPS RPs coveting mine- we mutually agreed we'd both like to enhance our quivers with each other's skis.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Yebbut since when have you needed a small turn radius to carve on piste?

Learnt to ski powder on factory slalom skis, cant imagine ever going back!

clarky999, same here, cant remember the lat time i wanted to do tight carved turns on piste... matter of taste I guess

I thought the Du Praz design pre-dated the BBRs by a couple of seasons.

When i look at these skis, i see what i assume snowboarders think a powder tool should do, sink in the tail float at the font... all well and good if you are standing sideways, but not for legs encased inplastic.

Chatting to a guy who was skiing on them a couple of seasons ago in Tigne, he thought they were great and didn't sink at the tail at all.
